Notes

This shot is actually really interesting to me, not so much for what it is, but for what I hope it will become. I came upon this church a couple weeks ago. It's just a couple miles down the road, and really I've probably passed it about 10 times, but I had never noticed it before. It's really quite striking in its simplicity, and it very much reminded me of one of my favorite Ansel Adams photographs.

I've spent some time thinking this one through, what's the best time to catch it (sunrise, this was taken at sunset), where's the best vantage point (probably on top of my car, almost in a neighboring yard), and how best to expose the shot (well, that one is going too receive a bit of trial and error). This shot isn't even close to perfect, nor was it really meant to be. This was a scouting trip to a site that I hope one day to make a very good image from. This is my polaroid, if you will (taken in entirely the wrong light), and I will return soon to make my first of what will likely be many attempts to capture how I see this wonderfully simple structure. Hope you enjoy it too.
